A letter to my Friends
Obviously, it is often said that "an unexamined life is not worth living". And it is not how far you have lived your life but how well. Living a sinful and reckless life in this world brings about self destruction and disgrace. Proverbs 11: 7 says; "When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and expectation of power comes to nothing". We have all sinned including me and have fall short of the glory of God. And God does not delight or derive pleasure in the death of a wicked man but for him to repent from all his sins and live. let not our lives be associated with the people of Sodom and Gomorrah who were given grace on several occasions but still perished. For Proverbs 11:21 says " Most certainly, the evil man will not go unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered.
Also, he says he will be merciful to those he will be merciful to. Now is the time to cast of the works and nature of darkness and put on the armor and helmet of light. For the prayers of a sinner is an abomination before the Lord. Having reflected upon my life and the world at large, I have discovered that we have all lost the consciousness of sin. We sin at will and we wallow in pleasure of such sinfulness. Psalm 51: 3 says "For I know my transgressions. My sin is constantly before me." Most at times we pray and our prayers are not answered, it not because we do not know how to pray but because we have not done the necessary things, we have not purify our minds, thoughts and actions. Pathetically, our sins continually enslave us which the devil now uses to accuse us in the presence of our heavenly father. For the psalmist says the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down who accuses them day and night before our God.
My life has always been like the antecedent life of St Augustine until now...... But making a strong decision not to offend God again is a step to righteousness. Psalm 11: 5-6 says "The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but the unfaithful will be trapped by evil desires".
I implore you to take a stand and make a positive choice today, because tomorrow might be too late. Because the devil is always around us to steal to kill and to destroy. He goes out like a roaring lion looking for how to cast us into the darkness. But the choice has been set before us.
Joshua 24 :15 says "If it seems evil to you to serve God, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve God."
This is a personal introspection and reflection which I know in faith will be of help to you. Confession and sacrament of penance is very crucial in terms of being close to God. I pray may this piece of admonition brings God more present in your life as you resolve with me to live a perfect life through Christ our Lord. Amen
